Ruth and Ken and the Riskies 2018 update

It was fabulous being out and about during 2017, as both Ruth and Ken and as Risky Business.

We've bumped into old friends and made new ones too. It's always something we have cherished being involved with the folk and acoustic music scene, meeting all you lovely folk out there.  In fact if you take a look at our social media pages,  you'll see just how many friends we have made over the years,  based around music! It just proves its good for the soul.

We've had a great response from every gig we have done and continue to do.  We forget that there are many people coming to the venues, that have never heard of us from our earlier days!. It's fantastic! Having a new audience in with our lovely 'older ' friends makes it fresh for us all.

Our concerts dates are being added constantly and now take you into May 2019, covering the length and breadth of the UK.... plenty of time for you to plan ahead. Dates

If any club, hall or festival organiser would like to book us,  we are taking dates as far as winter 2019 and all over the world if you fancy having us.  So please do get in touch! (restrictions apply to Risky Business dates due to other musical commitments)

New Albums.

Ken and I are producing our 2nd album as the duo and we're about to start on a new Risky Business one too. Our duo album should be available by April/May and hopefully the Risky album following, not too long afterwards.

We love the new take we have on some of our songs, both vocally and instrumentally. Helped due to the introduction of Ken on Banjo and Dave's new tenor. (Both stunning looking Powells)

The albums will be full of some great songs and by popular demand, we're putting a couple of bonus track in, from some of the very first albums we ever recorded all those years ago, which you can't buy anymore.  We'll keep the titles a secret for now though..(tee hee)

General News

Ken and Ruth - We're still happy in Wales and loving living in the Llanwddyn Community. Whilst Ken is nearly retired now from building guitars, he does still build 2 or 3 instruments a year if people want them and are prepared to wait... Seemingly they still do, as he's building a couple as I write.

The Llanwddyn Folk and Acoustic weekend we run from the community centre is going strong, thanks to the many people who come and support it continuously.  This years it's on the 31st Aug/1st-2nd Sept and its a brilliant line up.  If you have never been before..give it a try... you won't be disappointed. Its only small (220 max) and very friendly.  The sound in the concert hall is fantastic and you can actually see the artists faces from every seat in the house!

Ruth is heavily involved in the community centre and currently trying to fundraise for its full restoration with other Hall committee members.  They have achieved a lot this past couple of years and the most urgent and ongioing fundraising project is a new roof.  All £120,000.00 worth!

Dave - Dave continues his path with 'Other Roads' successful in playing to audiences all over the UK and abroad. (hence the limited dates available as Risky Business)

He still resides in Lytham St Annes with Liz and we and lots of other folk, enjoyed a wonderful day together last year, when finally they tied the knot!  It was a perfect day.. well weekend really.  Liz looked stunning and Dave very dapper with his orange socks, which he displayed proundly on the photo shoot..

Well there you have it... We hope to see you on the road sometime soon. Take care of each other, until our paths cross again.

Lots of love

Ruth Ken and of course Dave xxx
